Spencer These Days

We start the day with family cuddle time until Spencer repeals off the side of the bed is pursuit of Chad’s belt. He drags it around until breakfast time when he enjoys a smattering of anything from yogurt, flakes and O’s of cereal, to scrambled egg yolk and toast. Then he points to the fridge and we all know what he wants…watermelon! Then I wash his mush and patty watts, (which he hates and fights) wave good bye to ‘Dada’ for the day and then we play. We play our own version on hide and go seek, where I hide, he finds me and then I attack with hugs and kisses. He loves chasing the ball around the house or dragging his belts around. Spencer doesn’t really sit and play, just runs in circles around the house enjoying his newly found independence/freedom (we only have the stairs blocked with a baby gate now so he has full range of the upstairs, excluding rooms with the door shut). He still naps in morning for varying amounts of time depending on how well he sleeps or didn’t the previous night. Before nap we curl up in the rocking chair, read a book (or a few pages) and I tuck him in his crib. He wakes up ready for lunch, which is usually a meat and cheese sandwich with a side of fruits and veggies. And it is back to playing. If it is not too hot we walk around the shady part of the yard because this child cannot get enough outdoors. After awhile it is nap time again. This time I add singing while I feed him a bottle to the nap time routine. During his naps I usually do chores, prep for dinner, work on sewing projects or read/rest depending on what needs to be done. After Spencer wakes up, we play some more inside and/or outside until dinner needs to be finished and Daddy arrives (we love waiting in the front lawn for his homecoming). Family dinner is always eventful with Spencer, particularly when he wants what is on your plate even though he has the same thing cut up. Then it is clean up time and then depending on the time and level of crankiness/tiredness (not just Spencer’s) we play, give him a bath, read a book and to bed he goes. So basically we play all day, yeah I know I have the best job ever!
