My Baby Has a Better Tan than I Do!
Saying that Spencer loves being outside is an understatement. If anyone has to go outside for any reason, Spencer is right at his or her heels begging to go. We get the morning paper, pick raspberries, swing under the tree, water plants and put the wash out on the line. We go for walks in the morning before it gets too hot and read under the shade of the oak tree, on the beloved Great Oma made jean quilt. Spencer accompanies Great-Grandpa Fortie on all his neighbor check-up visits and we watch him mow the lawns. Whenever we go out for an extended period of time, like to swim in the little backyard pool, I goop him up good with sunscreen and a hat. However for short outings, like checking the mailbox, I am more lax about sun protection. All this time spent outdoors has naturally given Spencer quite a nice farmer’s tan. To my surprise, people have even mentioned to me how dark my baby is. Naturally I should be tan too. I don’t know how big a role genes play in this, but my baby has a better tan than I do!
